Salary: $53,846.00 – $68,744.00 Annually

Position Summary:

The Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator’s Office is offering exciting Correctional Officer I career opportunities for individuals interested in the Criminal Justice field. Successful candidates will control and oversee activities of inmates detained within the detention facilities of the Sheriff’s Office; and perform related work as required.

Requirements:

  • Possession of a United States’ high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Possession of a valid Class “C” driver’s license, or equivalent. Incumbents may be required to obtain a valid Class “B” driver’s license, or equivalent.
  • Under California Penal Code Section 831.5, the Correctional Officer I classification is defined as a public officer. Therefore, candidates must be able to meet all pre-employment as well as ongoing public officer status requirements pursuant to federal, state and local legislation.
  • Incumbents must successfully complete the training requirements mandated by California Penal Code Section 831.5 (c) prior to completion of the one (1) year probationary period.
