Correctional Officer
Salary: $24.87 per hour.
Essential Functions:
- Assisting in maintaining the security of the correctional complex facility.
- Conducting daily physical inspections of the facilities and the searching of inmates and visitors.
- Receiving, booking and securing inmates into the correctional facility.
- Supervising inmates in activities including appearance in court, recreation, visitation, serving of meals.
- Processing legal documents in the facility.
- Ensuring the safety and welfare of the general public and inmates during transportation to different locations by various means of travel.
- Participating and assisting in handling physical confrontations.
- Performing any other tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- U.S. Citizen.
- Must be a High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Must have a current valid Texas Driver License.
- Must not have a conviction or deferred adjudication of a Class B misdemeanor or higher class offense with the last 10 years.
- Must be able to obtain a TCOLE jailer certification within one year.
- Must pass all written and physical examinations.
- Regular attendance is essential.
- Must arrive at work on time, prepared to perform assigned duties and work assignment scheduled.
- Must have the ability to work well with others.
- Hiring will be contingent on passing a post-offer, pre-employment criminal background check, pre-employment physical exam, psychological evaluation, and drug test.
- Physical demands and environmental factors are also essential function of the job.
Preferred Requirements:
- Preferred but not required: Current full-time officer working in Corrections.
- Preferred but not required: Six months current experience as a Corrections Officer.
