Community Services Officer II (Jail Unit)
Salary: $63,312.00 – $72,432.00 Annually
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Police Chief and supervisors, the Community Services Officer II position performs work under general instructions, but with established policies, procedures and precedents as guides; and performs related duties as required to achieve successful results in support of the City’s mission, goals, policies and objectives.
Essential Functions:
- Work cooperatively with co-workers, supervisors and command staff; exercise tact, self-restraint and good judgment
- Support the City’s mission, goals, policies and objectives; deliver outstanding internal and external customer service; solve problems and communicate effectively with the public and fellow employees
- Support the City’s corporate values of: Openness and honesty; integrity and ethics; accountability; outstanding customer service; teamwork; excellence; and fiscal responsibility
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Performing other related duties as required
- Receiving, processing, searching, photographing, fingerprinting, transporting and releasing inmates
- Collecting DNA
- Assigning charges for crimes and warrants, collecting bail money and processing bonds, writing citations and ensuring the safety and well-being of inmates
- Preparing criminal cases for filing
- Serving subpoenas to witnesses, appearing and testifying in court
Requirements:
- The position requires possession of a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Minimum age of 18 years at time of appointment.
- Additional college credits and bilingual skills are desirable.
- Must possess a valid Class “C” or Class “3” California Driver License.
- Must successfully complete the State of California Detention Officer training program.
