Community Service Officer
Salary: $21.00 Hourly
Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Police Chief, performs a variety of routine administrative and clerical work in support of law enforcement activities.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates and assists in prisoner transport.
- Assists in prisoner booking and handling procedures
- Coordinates prisoner meals and assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the jail
- Assist in maintaining vehicle fleet
- Searches prisoners as needed.
- Undertakes limited community oriented police work, and assists citizens with such matters as locked or stalled vehicles, crime prevention, animal control, traffic safety, parking enforcement, traffic direction, etc.
- Composes a variety of correspondence, reports and other materials requiring independent judgment as to content, accuracy and completeness.
- Assists records in evidence/property procedures
- Represent and commit to building a culture inclusive of diversity, equity, inclusion, ethics, and trust.
- Meet all job safety requirements and standards that pertain to the essential functions of the position.
- Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older at the time of employment;
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories within the past seven years; must be able to read and write the English language; or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Must possess a valid State of Ohio driver’s license and ability to maintain continuing eligibility under the City’s driver eligibility standards.
