Salary: $78,182.88 – $95,788.32 Annually

The City of Beverly Hills Police Department is seeking highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of Communications Dispatcher. Communications Dispatchers answer all calls for emergency services and maintain radio and mobile data computer contact with police officers and firefighters in the field, acting as a lifeline by providing information and support and monitoring their safety.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain radio and mobile data computer contact with City personnel e.g. police officers, firefighters community services officers, and traffic control officers in the field, acting as a lifeline to provide information and support and monitoring their safety.
- Answer all calls to the City 911 number; coordinate emergency services; determine priorities; dispatch appropriate services in each situation; answers emergency and business lines; screen and route calls; determine needs and dispatch personnel.
- Receive and input information into City, State, and Federal computers pertaining to theft, missing and wanted persons, license plate information, etc. and relay information to police.
- Log all calls in appropriate logbooks, incident cards, or records messages; monitor all emergency bands 24 hours a day for any unusual occurrences and contact appropriate services when needed.
- Maintain and change all audio and visual logging equipment; report malfunctioning and out of service equipment.
- Train new employees; Perform clerical duties e.g., record keeping, filing, compiling reports and indexing.
- Receive, identify, and accurately evaluate emergency and routine calls for police, fire, and paramedic services; provide pre-arrival Emergency Medical Dispatch instructions and lifesaving directions over the telephone.
- Use established policies and procedures, independent judgement, sense, and reason to make rapid and accurate decisions to achieve an effective initial alternative course of action.
- Assist new or existing staff in learning departmental practices and protocols, methods, and procedures.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.

- Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- No experience required.
- A typing certificate indicating the ability to type at the minimum speed of 45 words per minute (WPM).
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
- A certificate of completion of a POST Public Safety Dispatcher course is desirable.
