Salary: $48,401.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws and the protection of life and property.

Essential Functions:

  • Patrols the community on foot or in a vehicle to detect or deter criminal or suspicious activity; apprehends offenders, promotes and preserves the peace, and reduces opportunities for the commission of crimes.
  • Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
  • Investigates traffic accidents.
  • Responds to public emergencies.
  • Enforces traffic laws to facilitate the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
  • Answers questions and provides information to the general public.
  • Assists other departments as directed.
  • Completes required reports.
  • Maintains assigned weapons, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Attends training classes and seminars.
  • Investigates crimes; interviews suspects, witnesses, and victims.
  • Processes crime scenes; collects and preserves evidence.
  • Executes search and arrest warrants.
  • Prepares case files; prepares investigation reports.
  • Testifies in court.
  • Transports inmates to court and other locations.
  • Participates in community-oriented policing activities.
  • Provides first response emergency medical care to victims.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
  • No experience requirements.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
  • Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the Police Standards and Training Council for the State of Georgia.
