Certified Police Officer
Salary: $48,401.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws and the protection of life and property.
Essential Functions:
- Patrols the community on foot or in a vehicle to detect or deter criminal or suspicious activity; apprehends offenders, promotes and preserves the peace, and reduces opportunities for the commission of crimes.
- Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
- Investigates traffic accidents.
- Responds to public emergencies.
- Enforces traffic laws to facilitate the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
- Answers questions and provides information to the general public.
- Assists other departments as directed.
- Completes required reports.
- Maintains assigned weapons, vehicles, and equipment.
- Attends training classes and seminars.
- Investigates crimes; interviews suspects, witnesses, and victims.
- Processes crime scenes; collects and preserves evidence.
- Executes search and arrest warrants.
- Prepares case files; prepares investigation reports.
- Testifies in court.
- Transports inmates to court and other locations.
- Participates in community-oriented policing activities.
- Provides first response emergency medical care to victims.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
- No experience requirements.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the Police Standards and Training Council for the State of Georgia.
