Campus Police Officer
Salary: $60000.00
Position Summary:
The Campus Police Officer is responsible for the enforcement of State and Local laws, University Rules and Regulations, and providing service to all community members (university and civilian). The Campus Police Officer reports to Police Chief.
Essential Functions:
- Conducts patrols to detect, investigate, and correct unwanted activity to ensure public safety. Note that campus patrols will be conducted on foot and by various types of vehicles.
- Reports security hazards so that appropriate action can be taken, ensuring our Cardinal Community is safe-this is essential in maintaining our relationship with our community.
- Consistently maintains an extremely courteous and professional attitude when dealing with all members of the UIW community and our visitors.
- Enforces the protection, safety, and welfare of students, faculty, employees, visitors, and all within the area under the control and jurisdiction of UIW.
- Exercises independent judgment within the limits prescribed by law, institutional rules and regulations, departmental policies and procedures and those dictated by the Chief of Police.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Completion from a Texas accredited police academy.
- Graduate from a TCOLE recognized police academy or approved equivalent.
- Peace Officer License issued by the TCOLE.
- Must have a valid driver license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW.
- Must be available to work varying shifts, nights and weekends.
Preferred Requirements:
- Intermediate Peace Officer.
- Bachelors Degree (Behavioral or Communication Science)
