Airport Police Officer
Salary: $57,295 – $66,323 per year.
Position Summary:
This position provides law enforcement services to the Airport in accordance with Federal, State and local laws, and specifically Transportation Security Regulation 1542 and associated Federal, State and local security rules, policies and procedures. Enforces appropriate Federal, State, and local laws and ordinances, provides emergency response to airport terminal checkpoint operations per TSA federal regulations as well as emergency response to such events as bomb threats, an active shooter, hijacking, and aircraft accidents; and performs other duties as assigned. This position is subject to twenty-four (24) hour work availability, including shift work, weekends, holidays, emergency calls, and special events. This position is considered weather essential personnel.
Essential Functions:
- Patrols Airport buildings and grounds on foot and in vehicle.
- Enforces laws, city ordinances and airport policy, including parking and traffic laws.
- Responds to calls for service and assistance, including but not limited to emergency responses.
- Assists civilians, passengers, employees and airport tenants as needed.
- Investigates and reports various types of incidents; investigates criminal offenses, interviews victims and witnesses, interrogates suspects and prepares written reports.
- Acts as medical first responder for medical emergencies, and provides first aid as needed.
- Arrests suspects and files appropriate charges.
- Searches suspects, vehicles and structures; collects evidence; and searches crime scenes.
- Maintains and reports on lost and found property and evidence in compliance with legal guidelines, and assists in the disposal of unclaimed property or evidence according to applicable guidelines.
- Prepares and submits required reports, maintains electronic and paper files, and locates/researches documents in filing system and computer system.
- Guards the TSA checkpoints in the absence of TSA staff.
- Maintains positive public relations.
- Testifies in court.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be licensed as a Peace Officer by the Texas Commission on Law
- Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License Required.
- Must be licensed as a Peace Officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Officer Standards and Education.
