911 Specialist I (911 Call Taker and Dispatcher)
Salary: $38,796.
Essential Functions:
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to receiving, forwarding and handling all emergency calls for all fire departments, rescue, EMS Services, and Police Departments received in the Wicomico County 911 Center for the residents of Wicomico County as well as various surrounding counties who are serviced by these Wicomico County agencies, as well as dispatch and track calls for Fire & EMS.
- Works in cooperation with the Communications Operator II in the absence of an immediate supervisor.
- Answers to the communications supervisor on duty.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Working knowledge of, and experience using, Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
- Successful completion of the Emergency Telecommunicator (ETC), Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD) and Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) training courses.
- Knowledge of basic medical terms and fire department procedures preferred.
- Maintain either Emergency Medical Technician, First Aid certification to include CPR and AED or higher medical certification. Attain ICS 100, 200 & 700 certification.
- The hiring process includes an oral interview, practical exams, background investigation and drug testing.
