911 Dispatcher
Salary: $19.46/hour
Position Summary:
Under direct supervision, dispatchers will be responsible for taking incoming phone calls from citizens; radio calls from officers, firefighters and medical personnel; prioritize the calls and process them according to the nature of the call.
Essential Functions:
- Answer 911 calls and dispatch non-emergency calls
- Make entries on a computer aided system
- Operate and make entries on a national computer system
- Verify warrants from computer system
- Operate a radio system from a computer console
- Transfer calls to the appropriate agency or division
- Accurately maintain a computer database
- Provide pre-arrival instructions in medical emergencies
- Other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate
- Must be a United States Citizen
Preferred Requirements:
- Some knowledge of law enforcement, fire and medical practices
- Extensive knowledge in the use of computers, radios and other office machine
- Ability to work in a stressful environment
- Ability to type 30 – 45 WPM with minimal errors
