Salary: $18.33 per hour.

Position Summary:

Murray County Government is currently accepting applications for a Full-time Communications Officer at the Murray County 911/EOC Department. This position is responsible for receiving emergency calls from the public and dispatching the appropriate emergency personnel. Therefore, excellent verbal communication skills are essential. This includes a clear speaking voice and presentation for radio communications. Strict adherence to applicable federal, state and local statues, as well as departmental policies and procedures if mandated. Individuals considered for these positions will be subject to a thorough background check ensuring individual integrity and positive associations. Applications may be submitted online. Requirements:

  • Candidates must successfully complete a Pre-employment examination consisting of spelling, reading comprehension, basic reasoning skills, and type 35 wpm with 97% accuracy.
  • Candidate must be able to accommodate flexible scheduling of their work requirements.
  • Applicant must have a high school diploma of GED equivalent.
  • Training requirements include the ability to master dispatching procedures, radio codes used in public safety operations, successful completion of P.O.S.T., and Emergency Dispatch Certification (including CPR).
