Salary: $60,000 – $64,000

Position Summary:

The purpose of this position is to assist in maintaining the safety and security of the campus by providing leadership to shift personnel.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with inspections of security personnel for tour of duty.
  • Assists in the assignment of personnel to their post and appropriate assignments. Assists issuing appropriate equipment for shift assignments.
  • Communicates any discrepancies that occur during their assigned tour of duty to the Lieutenant. Provide input to Second Lieutenant on the performance of patrol officers for evaluation purposes. Provides direction to patrol officers on the proper performance of their duties.
  • Responds to calls involving criminal activity.
  • Controls large crowds and student gatherings, dispersing groups where necessary and appropriate. Maintains surveillance over campus and or HUH facilities.
  • Performs other appropriate job related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Graduation or General Equivalency Diploma (GED); and four (4) years of responsible work experience in law enforcement or security work;
  • United States citizenship with no criminal record;
  • Possession of a good driving record and a driver’s license valid in the District of Columbia;
  • Must successfully pass a qualifying physical examination, agility and drug tests; completion of a University­ sponsored or law enforcement academy or the ability to successfully complete a police academy;
  • Must possess a Special Police Commission with firearm authorization or be able to obtain said commision within six months after employment.
