Position Summary:

The Department of Campus Safety and Police is community-oriented dedicated to the safety and security of the community we serve. The department is highly focused on a community policing model with core responsibilities of Integrity, Community Focus, Competence, and Impartial Policing. Police officers have a chance, not only to be pro-active, but also take part in many programs and outreach opportunities offered to the community. The position of Senior Police Officer will be required to have or obtain a certification as a Crime Prevention Specialist. This position will be responsible for creating and implementing crime prevention programs for the RBC community. The Department of Campus Safety & Police is looking for individuals and leaders that embrace these missions and goals.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Current certification as a law enforcement officer by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.
• U. S. citizen.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Possess valid Virginia driver’s license.
• No convictions of felonies and/or serious misdemeanors.
• Possess certification as a Crime Prevention Specialist through DCJS, or able to obtain certification.
• This position requires the knowledge and demonstrated ability to proficiently manage and operate the department’s K-9 (Therapy Dog) program.
• Successfully pass all phases of the police officer selection process to include physical agility test, extensive background investigation, MMPI, interview, and a medical and drug screening by a physician.
