School Police Communications Supervisor
Salary: $23.06 – $38.98
Essential Functions:
- Supervises, coordinates, and performs Baltimore School Police communications and dispatching functions.
- Trains, supervises, and evaluates assigned employees. Resolves performance or personnel issues.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and Best Practices in the field of Police communications dispatch; and participates in developing effective training programs.
- Plans work assignments and evaluates shift operations to ensure district services and expectations are achieved.
- Establishes Command & Control of Critical Incidents.
- Performs recordkeeping techniques in a complex business environment; modern police dispatch and communications operations such as CAD, NCIC, and METERS, radio equipment, and enhanced 911 equipment; automated law enforcement information systems and procedures; standard law enforcement record keeping methods and techniques and current law enforcement and police patrol practices, procedures and related terminology; modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
- Monitors computer software operability, updates computer-aided dispatch (CAD) files as necessary, and supervises the maintenance of records and files necessary to the dispatch function.
- Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies, professional standards, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Must possess or acquire NCIC certification logon course offered by the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Data Services Division within one year of employment.
- Must possess or acquire Maryland Electronic Telecommunications Enforcement Resource Systems (METERS) certification within six months of employment.
- Must authorize the release of prior employment history and criminal conviction information.
- Must pass drug test, background record investigation and federal, state, and local fingerprint checks.
- Must submit to a truth Verification Test and Psychological Screening
- Must successfully complete Communications training
- Must be proficient in technical computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Ability to use radio communication and other related equipment.
- Ability to use tact and good judgment in interacting with the public, school, and central office personnel.
- Ability to interpret evacuation procedures.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations while maintaining composure and consistently demonstrating appropriate professionalism and restraint.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Bilingual highly desired
