Salary: $48,425.40 – $75,445.20

Position Summary:

The position of Probation Officer will work with probationers within Rock Island County and is responsible for maintaining client records and client contacts. The Probation Officer will work directly under the supervision of the Director of Court Services and his/her designees. The Probation Officer will monitor compliance based on the terms ordered by the court. The Probation Officer is an officer of the Court and must maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Probation Officer will work a 40 work week with some evening and weekend hours.

Essential Functions:

  • A basic working knowledge of Illinois Criminal Law.
  • Enforce orders of the court and filing violations with the court when necessary.
  • Attend court hearings and provide testimony as needed, demonstrating professionalism in both appearance and demeanor.
  • Maintain chronological case notes for each client, documenting all contacts.
  • Refer clients to appropriate agencies to meet their needs and monitor services rendered.
  • Ability to conduct and accurately score assessments and re-assessments to determine risk and need levels.
  • Develop supervision plans consistent with assessment findings by using the Effective Casework Model.
  • Act as a representative of court services at the court, jail and community facilities in an effective and professional manner.
  • Complete probationer contacts in the field including home contacts as defined by Caseworks Standards.

Requirements:

  • United States citizen.
  • Illinois resident within 90 days of hire, living within 45 miles of the Court House.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
