Duties
Operate an assigned patrol vehicle; patrol assigned areas of the county for traffic and criminal violations; respond to citizen calls, complaints, and requests for information; conduct victim, witness and suspect interviews; prepare detailed police reports; make arrests; testify in court; interact with community groups and organizations; perform other police patrol operations in the field as assigned and needed.
Minimum Qualifications
For in-state applicants, possess a current Virginia law enforcement certification or have relinquished certification within two years preceding date of hire. Must have completed one consecutive year of sworn service upon completion of a field training program. Must have left former agency in good standing to be considered. High school diploma or GED; must be a US citizen; successful applicants must pass a physical agility test, possess or be eligible for a Virginia driver’s license with no more than six demerit points in the past twelve months.
