Police Officer – Lateral Entry
Position Summary:
Provides law enforcement services to the Kalispel Tribe of Indians and enforces Tribal, Federal, and State laws. Investigates any assigned or initiated criminal investigations to be presented to a Tribal, State or Federal Prosecutor.
Essential Functions:
- Investigates criminal and civil complaints when directed by Kalispel Tribal Law Enforcement supervision.
- Gathers information and documents regarding crimes and allegations. Prepares and files detailed reports.
- Testifies in the appropriate court on behalf of the Tribe, the State of Washington or the United States Government to further the chance of prosecution or to protect the Tribe’s assets.
- Patrols Tribal land and properties to enforce all laws and to provide protection and safety for all persons on Tribal lands. Responds to calls for service.
- Provides continuous public relations with other law enforcement and public agencies through presence, education, and assistance.
- Knowledge of RCW and Criminal Jurisdiction in Indian Country
- Memorandum and/or other information and instructions.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school or better in High School/General Education.
- Associate degrees or higher in Criminal Justice or a related field.
- Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from Two-year College or technical school.
- Five years experience and/or training in civilian law enforcement with a State, Municipal or Tribal Agency; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Graduate of approved Basic Law Enforcement Academy. No more than twenty four months break in service at time of application.
