Entry Level / Lateral / Comparative Compliance Eligible

Starting Salary: $46,000 for entry level candidates. Lateral and comparative compliance candidates would receive a higher starting salary commensurate with experience.

The Town of Hampstead Police Department is seeking candidates to be considered for the position of Police Officer. This is a full-time position with a competitive benefit plan.

We are currently accepting applications from both entry level as well as potential lateral candidates. Candidates with no training would be considered for entry level training beginning in June 2020. Candidates with a current Maryland Police Certification would be considered for a more immediate hiring. Individuals with out of state police certification may be eligible for a comparative Compliance certification and are encouraged to apply.

The Hampstead Police Department is seeking men and women that exhibit good character, sound judgement, honesty, reliability, and integrity that blend with a philosophy for community- oriented policing and a desire to serve the interests of the residents of the Town of Hampstead.

Duties: Under regular supervision, performs basic law enforcement duties in accordance with the mission, goals and objectives of the Hampstead Police Department in compliance with governing federal, state and local laws. Typical duties to include:
• Responding to calls for service
• Maintaining order in an assigned patrol area
• Enforcing criminal and traffic laws mandated and authorize by State and local laws, ordinances and codes
• Report writing
• Courtroom presentations
• Problem solving
• Providing effective service to the residents of the Town of Hampstead

Minimum Qualifications: U.S. Citizen, High School graduate, 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, and capable of passing a comprehensive background investigation.
