Police Officer
Salary: $28.95-41.29 per hour
Position Summary:
Performs law enforcement & public safety duties as necessary to maintain law & order in the City of Lake Crystal
This position is responsible for the enforcement of federal, state, and local laws and the protection of life and property.
Essential Functions:
- Patrols Lake Crystal to detect and deter criminal activity and traffic violations.
- Responds to calls, including domestic disputes, assaults, burglaries, traffic accidents, lost or missing people, public service duties, stranded motorists, and others.
- Conducts preliminary investigations into traffic accidents and other incidents, including interviewing victims, complainants and witnesses, gathering information and evidence, and securing crime scenes.
- Apprehends, arrests, and processes offenders, including fugitives, summons witnesses.
- Provides assistance and back-up support to other officers and agencies as necessary.
- Provides first aid and CPR to victims as necessary and assists motorists.
- Provides traffic direction as needed for events such as parades, funerals, and as needed for school related events.
- Provides escorts for people transporting large amounts of money.
- Testifies in judicial proceedings as necessary.
- Coordinates firearms training; maintains training records.
- Complete all required reports and forms, including accident and incident reports.
- Inspects and maintains an assigned patrol car and uniform.
- May provide presentations at community events.
- Prepares and serves search warrants.
- May perform duties of School Resource Officer.
- Provides training to new officers.
- Attends ongoing training classes as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- No experience requirements.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Minnesota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Ability to meet current standards as a certified officer set forth by the State of Minnesota.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Have a high school diploma or GED & pass the police entry level examinations including a background investigation.
- Prior experience in law enforcement is desirable.
- Must be MN POST licensed by the date of hire.
