Position Summary:

Patrol district property to protect all students, personnel, and visitors from physical harm and prevent property loss due to theft or vandalism. Enforce all laws including municipal ordinances, county ordinances, and state laws. Investigate criminal cases, as required, stemming from violations of municipal ordinances, county ordinances or state laws.

Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Texas Peace Officer License issued by TCLEOSE
  3. Current valid Texas class “C” drivers license
  4. Patrol assigned campuses and routes walking or driving within district jurisdiction.
  5. Respond to all calls from the local school principal or his designee regarding crisis situations, accidents, and reports of crime.
  6. Investigate all criminal offenses that occur within district’s jurisdiction. The investigations may be initiated at the campus level or as an assignment from supervisory personnel.
  7. Collect and preserve evidence for criminal investigations including witness statements and physical evidence.
  8. Arrest perpetrators, file appropriate charges, and ensure placement in jail or juvenile detention centers for law violations as necessary.
  9. Write effective legal incident reports.
  10. Testify in court as needed.
  11. Work cooperatively with other police agencies to share information and provide other assistance.
  12. Help provide traffic control at athletic events, school closings or openings, or at any other time.
  13. Provide protection to or escort district personnel as needed.
  14. Operate all equipment including firearms according to established safety procedures.
  15. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and documents required, including affidavits for arrest, incident reports, and activity reports.
  16. Perform crossing guard duties as assigned.
  17. Assist departmental supervision in additional specialized activities to include but not limited to the continued investigation of criminal cases, transportation of cases and evidence to appropriate offices and agencies outside of the District, as well providing assistance in the performance of any other police related duties. These duties may be performed at headquarters or in any other facility deemed appropriate by police supervision for any period of time.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Safety or Police Supervisor.
