20 years old; valid NC driver’s license; high school diploma or equivalent. Must pass written examination, background investigation, physical examination, psychological examination, submit to and have negative results on drug screening test and complete an oral interview. Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) preferred. Salary commensurate with qualifications.
Perform a full range of general law enforcement duties to include, patrolling the city during a shift in a police car or on foot; preventing, detecting and investigative work; apprehending suspects; testifying in court; and executing related assignments. Employees must exercise judgment, initiative and calm control when performing duties. Work involves frequent public contact, which requires tact, firmness and decisiveness.
