Police Detective

Salary: $35.00 per hour

Position Summary:

The Village of Bloomingdale Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for one (1) parttime Police Detective. This part-time position primarily involves employment background investigations and monitoring ILETSB training mandates, but may also include a variety of police duties, including maintaining law and order, preserving peace, preventing crime, apprehending offenders, recovering lost/stolen property, and maintaining custody of prisoners. Provides security and performs generally non-patrol duties, as well as other duties required. Delivers outstanding customer service to residents and visitors of the Village of Bloomingdale. Part-time Detectives carry firearms only when in the performance of job duties with the permission of the Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Twenty-one (21) years of age or older
• Must be a citizen of the United States
• Must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license
• Graduate of a State of Illinois basic recruit academy and meets requirements for Illinois Law Enforcement
• Training and Standards Board for Certified Police Officers
• Experience as a sworn law enforcement officer
• A certified law enforcement officer in the State of Illinois, or the ability to obtain certification prior to employment
• Must hold a valid Firearms Owners Identification Card
