Position Summary:

The purpose of this position is to perform a full range of police officer and emergency response functions.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs special investigations, interviews and interrogates suspects and witnesses, and investigates major violations and accidents.
  • Enforces laws and ordinances by writing tickets, making arrests, serving subpoenas, and answering citizen complaints.
  • Patrols assigned district, including streets, neighborhoods, and businesses and answers calls for service.
  • Prepares reports, search warrants, documents and incident files.
  • Performs field operations by conducting surveillance, organizing and directing officers and law enforcement agencies, and executing search and arrest warrants.
  • Attends preliminary trial meetings and testifies in court if necessary.
  • Perform supervisory duties in absence of Sergeant.

Requirements:

  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License
  • Intermediate Law Enforcement Certification
  • Associates degree from an accredited college preferred. At least three (3) years of experience as a Police Officer; or the City may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
