Lateral Communication Specialist I
Salary: $30.80 – $38.94 Hourly
Requirements:
- Must be currently employed, or have been employed within the last 5 years, as a Telecommunicator. You must also have experience dispatching law enforcement for a municipal, state, or federal agency. All relevant experience must be clearly listed in your work history and must be verifiable.
- Applicants must submit a cover letter describing how their skills and experience align with the stated job responsibilities and qualifications.
- Must pass the pre-employment drug test (including marijuana)
- Must pass the pre-employment background check, criminal background check, and psychological exam.
- Must pass the Criticall test (Typing requirement: 35 wpm with 95% accuracy).
- Must be able to work periodic overtime and a variety of rotating shifts including holidays, nights, and weekends.
- Successful completion of the Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) and Basic Tele-communicator courses provided by WVCC by the end probationary period.
- Graduation from high school or a G.E.D. and experience in performing high-activity call receiving work, communicating via telephone equipment, or dealing with emergency related requests from the public.
- Current DPSST Telecommunicator certification is preferred but not required
- Out-of-State agency experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis to determine eligibility.
- Must be able to obtain required DPSST state certification during the probationary period.
