In and Out of State Lateral Officer – $10,000 Hiring Bonus

Peoria PD is actively seeking certified, experienced law enforcement officers from out‑of‑state agencies to join our team. As a lateral hire, you’ll skip the academy and be considered for salary placement and paid time off based on your prior service.
Compensation & Incentives
Hourly Wage: $33.97 – $47.79 (based on experience)
Annual Salary Range: $70,657 – $99,422
Salary Step Placement: Placement commensurate with years of policing experience.
Award Leave: Earn up to 80 hours of paid time off for applicable prior experience in addition to personal, vacation, sick, and holiday leave.
Minimum Qualifications
Certified as a police officer via AZPOST or equivalent federal/state academy and minimum one year sworn duty.

Standard work schedule: 4 × 10 hour shifts.

Hiring Process

Virtual or in-person Command Staff oral board interview.
Out-of-state laterals may complete the remaining steps in one visit (~3 days): polygraph, background check, Chief’s interview, conditional offer, AZPOST medical exam, drug screen, psychological screening.
Final job offer contingent on successful completion of screening and medical clearance.
