Full-Time Police Officer (DCJS Certified)

Salary: $73,500 – $84,000

Essential Functions:

• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
• Conduct criminal and traffic investigations.
• Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects.
• Collect, process, and preserve evidence.
• Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records.
• Make lawful arrests and testify in court proceedings.
• Investigate suspicious persons, vehicles, and activities.
• Respond to disturbances, traffic crashes, and public safety incidents.
• Assist with criminal investigations and present evidence during judicial proceedings.
• Maintain a visible presence at community events to deter criminal activity.
• Build positive relationships with residents, businesses, and visitors through community-oriented policing.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief of Police.

Requirements:

• Possess a High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
• Hold a current Virginia Law Enforcement Certification.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Reside, or be willing to relocate, within a 60-mile radius of Haymarket.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts (6:00 pm-6:00 am).
• Demonstrate the ability to read, understand, and apply the Code of Virginia and departmental policies.
• Successfully complete all required background investigations, medical evaluations, and employment standards
