Dispatcher

Salary: $22.87

Position Summary:

Dispatchers are responsible for receiving calls for service in a courteous and professional manner, determining the needs of the caller, and directing the proper agencies to assist the caller in meeting their needs. Dispatchers must also provide emergency medical dispatch when necessary. In addition, dispatchers obtain and relay information to the responding agencies and assists these agencies in receiving whatever support the responders need. The dispatcher maintains a daily log of accurate call information, monitors the activity of all public safety units and area radio channels, and provides assistance to the public and other town departments.

Requirements:

• APCO Emergency Dispatch Certified – Preferred
• 911 Certified – Preferred
• CPR Certified – Preferred
• CJIS Certified or be able to pass CJIS test
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows platforms, Outlook and other computer systems
• Be able to work all three (3) shifts including Weekends and Holidays
• The ability to work 4 eight-hour dispatch shifts on a weekly basis
• Successful completion of a background check per current policy and procedure
• Minimum of 18 yrs of age required
