Salary: $42,000 – $44,000

Position Summary:

The Communications Supervisor provides direct supervision of the personnel within the City’s Communications Center, to plan, organize and coordinate the operations and activities of the City’s Communications Center, which receives emergency and non-emergency calls and is responsible for providing dispatch services to both the Police Department and Fire Department.

This is a civilian first-line classification located within the Police Department’s Communications Center. The Communications Supervisor is responsible for first line supervision, conducting employee performance evaluations, provide corrective counseling to employees, and making recommendations regarding disciplinary actions.

Requirements:

  • Must have high school diploma or GED
  • NCIC, FCIC, certified
  • The Supervisor is the POC (Point of Contact) for the Police Department with FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement)
  • The Supervisor is trained by FDLE to be the TAC (Terminal Agency Coordinator)
  • Must be familiar with police objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Must be familiar with Federal and State law enforcement agencies and their operations.
  • Must have the ability to investigate problems and complaints regarding specific incidents, and to reward dispatchers when appropriate.
  • Must have strong organizational skills, the ability to organize and coordinate activities and casework.
  • Must have the ability to maintain effective work relationships with other employees, public officials, community groups and the general public.
