Deputy Sheriff Recruit
Salary: $20.65 To $20.65 Hourly
Position Summary:
This position is for a non-sworn agency employee who is training to become an entry-level Certified Deputy Sheriff. Deputy Sheriff Recruits are responsible for performing a full range of civilian duties in any of the bureaus of the Sheriff’s Office, including, but not limited to the following: patrol, civil, community outreach, investigation, transportation, court security, administrative, support or jail. The recruit may be assigned temporarily to a specialty area within the agency based on needs.
Essential Functions:
- Work towards completion of the state certification.
- Conduct community policing related tasks.
- Conducts research for special projects; assists with the implementation of special projects and programs.
- Represents the Sheriff’s Office at public meetings and community functions.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications,rks; and participating in professional societies.
- Aid the Community-Oriented Police Unit.
- Build community partnerships.
- Soliciting vendors and securing donations to support the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office initiatives.
- Plans and organizes community involvement, participates in problem-solving activities aimed at reducing crime and increasing community safety.
- Aid the Public Information Officer with advertising/marketing the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office.
- Ensure safety and security of the courthouse through camera observation.
- Ensure safety and security of inmates through non-direct contact camera observation.
- Monitor and screen persons entering the Rockdale County Courthouse.
- Assist with entering civil papers and warrants into the proper system.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Must have a valid State of Georgia Driver’s license.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
