Deputy Sheriff (POST Certified & Lateral Applicants)

Position Summary:

Deputy Sheriffs are responsible for patrol duties in the county including traffic enforcement, accident investigation, and proactive patrol. The Sheriff’s Office also works closely with the Colorado State Patrol, Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and the Colorado Division of Wildlife to provide patrols and assistance. Deputy Sheriffs also perform court security functions, criminal investigations, and search and rescue missions within the various public lands in Hinsdale County.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Convicted felons or individuals with illicit drug use in the past 5 years cannot be considered for employment
• Applicants must be at least 21 years of age for Deputy positions
• Colorado POST-Certified Peace Officer – LATERAL APPLICANTS HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO APPLY!
• Extreme levels of self-awareness and integrity
• Self starter / problem solver / proactive
• Willing to learn, grow, and be a team player
• Previous honorable military service is a huge plus
• Previous law enforcement experience heavily desired!
