Deputy Sheriff (POPS Certified)

Salary: $25.75/hr.

Essential Functions:

1) Patrol county roads in a patrol car with responsibilities for traffic control, investigate criminal complaints, prevent and detect crime or disturbances of the peace, investigate and assist with traffic accidents, and enforce the laws of the state of Kentucky and ordinances of the county and process all violators thereof;

2) Attend court, keep order and carry out orders of the courts;

3) Transport prisoners and convey all persons to the state penitentiary in execution of the sentence of the courts and execute all orders of the court in regards to conveying of prisoners;

4) Execute and serve civil and criminal process of the courts;

5) Collect property taxes as required by law.

Requirements:

• Position requires possession of a high school diploma or GED and two years of related law enforcement experience.
• Candidates must also be a POPS certified in accordance with the KLEC.
• In addition, applicants must also be 21 years of age,
• Possess a valid driver’s license for the current state of residence,
• Be willing to reside in the county after appointment and be of good moral character and have no felony convictions.
