Detentions is often a great place for inexperienced applicants wanting to start a career in law enforcement. It can be a rewarding career itself or be a valuable way to gain law enforcement experience to enhance your career. Many of our current Patrol Deputies, Investigators, even our Sheriff began their law enforcement career as a Detention Deputy.

Duties include providing safety, security, and care to the inmates, staff, and visitors in the detention facility, upholding the civil and constitutional rights of inmates, as well as transporting inmates when needed.

Detention Deputies do not need to be P.O.S.T. certified or have prior experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Graduation or Equivalent.
  • Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must have or be eligible to obtain a valid Colorado Driver’s License upon hire.

Additional Requirements:

  • Needs to be 21 years of age to apply
