Deputy Sheriff – Lateral – POST – Trainee

DEFINITION – Lateral and POST

Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of peace officer duties involving the protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and ordinances, criminal investigation, crime prevention and suppression, case preparation and testimony, and providing information and assistance to the public; and performs related duties as assigned.

DEFINITION – Trainee

Under close supervision, incumbent attends a basic academy course of study necessary to gain Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) approved peace officer status; and to perform related duties as assigned.

Correctional Deputy I/II

DEFINITION – Correctional Deputy I/II

Under immediate or general supervision, maintains facility security and inmate welfare in a County Jail; oversees and directs the work of inmates in structured situations and the community during an assigned shift; prepares clear, accurate, and comprehensive reports and other written materials; maintains accurate records, logs, and files; and performs related duties as assigned.
