The ideal candidate will have knowledge of where the department is now, how it got here, and the direction it is moving. The ideal candidate must have outstanding communication skills whose approach is characterized by fairness, integrity, openness, honesty, and transparency.
Any combination of equivalent experience and education that provides the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
- Bachelor’s degree (or ability to complete the bachelor’s degree within one year of hire)
- At least four years of experience at the Police Lieutenant level or above
- At least two years of experience at the Police Captain level or above
- Possession of an Advanced Peace Officer’s Standards and Training Certificate
The City provides an attractive compensation package that includes a competitive annual salary range of $181,117.63 — $222,364.93
