Deputy – Patrol

Salary: $23.79 per hour

Position Summary:

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for Deputy Sheriff – Patrol. This position is responsible for the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws and for the provision of services to the general public.

Essential Functions:

1. Patrols the county to detect and deter crime and to provide assistance to the general public.
2. Enforces traffic laws; issues warnings and citations.
3. Responds to calls for service.
4. Identifies, pursues, and arrests suspects and perpetrators of criminal acts.
5. Prepares required reports.
6. Investigates automobile accidents; prepares accident reports.
7. Provides aid to accident victims and others requiring assistance.
8. Secures crime scenes and collects evidence; photographs or draws diagrams of crime scenes.
9. Obtains and serves search and criminal warrants; apprehends and arrests suspects.
10. Transports prisoners to court and other locations as assigned.
11. Interviews complainants, witnesses, victims, suspects and informants.
12. Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment.
13. Provides security at school and other special events.
14. Escorts funerals and parades; provides traffic control at special events.
15. Assists emergency response personnel at fire and emergency medical scenes.
16. Serves on special teams and task forces as assigned.
17. Performs School Resource Officer duties as assigned.
18. Maintains security during court sessions as assigned; provides security for courthouse and annex operations.
19. Testifies in court as required.
20. Performs related duties.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• More than one year of related experience required.
• Possession of a valid Georgia Class C driver’s license.
• Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Council for the State of Georgia.
