Communications Call Taker – E911
Salary: $18.30 per hour.
Essential Functions:
- This position is responsible for answering emergency and non-emergency calls at the 911 Communications Center.
- Receives and screens incoming calls from the public and other user agencies; categorizes and prioritizes calls, including 911 calls, verifies location of calls and relays messages to Communications Officers for appropriate response.
- Provides emergency medical instructions to callers prior to the arrival of responders as needed.
- Inquires, retrieves, and monitors data from GCIC/NCIC databases; ensures compliance with rules and regulations.
- Maintains contact with callers in critical emergency situations until first responders arrive on scene.
- Responds to driver’s license and vehicle information requests. Monitors weather conditions and provides information as necessary.
- Participates in training classes.
- Dispatches wrecker services to accident scenes. Provide accurate & understandable directions to citizens, officers, and other law enforcement agencies.
- Notify of emergency and non-emergency situations to public, local, state, and federal agencies.
- Test and inspect equipment as required; notify supervisor of any malfunctions.
- Log repossessions, private vehicles impounded and abandoned vehicles, determine if vehicles are stolen. Performs related duties.
Requirements:
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
- No experience requirements.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain GCIC/NCIC certification.
