Salary: $18.00 Hourly.

Essential Functions:

  • The City of Southfield Police Cadet program is a training that provides individuals an opportunity to obtain valuable training designed to give the Cadet a well-rounded exposure to and appreciation of the functions performed by the Police Officers of the City of Southfield.
  • Cadets will perform work tasks of an administrative nature, along with other tasks that do not require the use of full Police powers, such as parking enforcement and jail security.
  • Cadets must be willing to familiarize themselves with and abide by all departmental rules and policies, City ordinances, and State and Federal laws.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D).
  • Must be able to meet the MCOLES Employment Standards.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation, including operation of motor vehicles and other equipment.
  • Must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Must have no felony convictions and no record of serious misdemeanor convictions.
  • Prefer Police Cadets to pursue an Associate Degree in Law Enforcement or related field.
