The University of Indianapolis recruits for part-time police officers on an ongoing basis to ensure a qualified pool of applicants as needs arise. Duties: The police officer is responsible for patrolling campus buildings, grounds, and adjacent areas/properties of the University; enforcing Indiana state laws, city and county ordinances, as well as the rules and policies of the University; providing for the safety, security, and well-being of the University community; investigating crimes and other incidents; restraining and/or arresting suspects when necessary; completing/submitting crime and incident reports; and providing assistance to courts in prosecution of cases.
Special Instructions to Applicants
Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications) High school diploma or GED and a valid Indiana operator’s license are required. Only currently ILEA certified officers will be considered.
Specific skills: Law enforcement experience must include conducting criminal investigations. The applicant must be service-oriented, display a positive attitude, be flexible, have the ability to exercise discretion, and demonstrate a strong moral and ethical character. Applicants should possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
LAW ENFORCEMENT TEST
Most law enforcement agencies require candidates to pass a qualification exam.

Desired Education/Experience/Skills (Additional Qualifications) Experience as a full-time law enforcement officer in a higher education environment preferred. Some college work and basic computer skills are preferred.
