The City of Manhattan Beach is now accepting applications for the position of Police Academy Trainee in the Police Department. The Police Academy Trainee is a non-sworn training position. Under close supervision, the Police Academy Trainee will complete a formal, comprehensive California Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Certified Basic Academy training program; learn basic law enforcement legislation and principles, police procedures and techniques and do other related work as required. Upon satisfactory completion of the training and graduation from the Academy Trainee will be sworn in as a Police Officer with full police authority.

Education: Requires a High School Diploma or G.E.D. or California High School Proficiency Test. The completion of college level course work is desirable.
License: Ability to attain a valid California "C" drivers license and have an acceptable driving record that meets the City's policy standards.
Special Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment; be a citizen of the United States of America or a permanent resident alien who is eligible and has applied for citizenship. Prior to appointment, candidates must successfully complete a polygraph test, psychological and medical examinations, and an extensive background investigation process.
