
911 TELECOMMUNICATOR
Duties
To receive incident reports, including emergency calls through 911, and simultaneously enter information into the computer. To operate public safety dispatching equipment for multiple jurisdictions and agencies.
Requires
One year of experience in emergency communications/dispatch work; or 2 years of experience in a multi-task, high public contact work environment; or possession of 60 semester hours from an accredited college/university; or any combination of education and experience that would provide the incumbent with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. Must accurately type at a rate of approximately 40 WPM and successfully complete a background investigation. Must be able to work any assigned hours/shifts with varying days off. Subject to emergency call-in. Must not possess any felony convictions. Must pass pre-employment hearing exam.

Salary
The starting base pay for this position is $13.68 per hour. Shift differential is paid per hour for 2nd ($.50 hr.) and 3rd ($1.00 hr.) shift assignments and is in addition to base pay. The entire salary range for the 911 Telecommunicator position is $13.68 - $18.66 hourly.
SCHEDULE
Once training is completed, incumbents will be assigned to 2nd (3:00 pm – 11:00 pm) and/or 3rd (11:00 pm – 7:00 am) shifts. During the training period, approximately one year, incumbents will rotate on all shifts. Weekends and holidays required.
